T
he past two days, we’ve had two men come to our Bible study for the first time. Both shared a little bit about themselves. Sadly, both men based their Christianity on the fact that they grew up in the church. One said that in the year before he came to prison he had decided to attend church again, and began to pray to God. Pray for these two men, who I won’t name at this time.
I would like to share with them, perhaps on Saturday, Isaiah chapter 59. Here we see that God does not even hear the prayer of those who do not confess their sin to Him in repentance and embrace the shed blood of Christ in remission of their sin; “but your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear” (Isaiah 51:2). Jesus Christ, God‘s only begotten Son, is our redeemer as Isaiah mentions in verse 20, for “those who turn from transgression,” Jesus provided the way, “there is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus“(Romans 8:1). He alone provides salvation. There is no other way. Growing up in a Christian family does not make us a Christian nor does going to church make one a Christian. Only by repentance and believing in what Jesus did for you and me on the cross are we saved.
Please pray for them.
