Day 193

Saturday, June 15, 2019 -

I am reading a book by Guillermo Gonzales and Jay Richards called The Privileged Planet, which provides a very interesting scientific analysis of the way planet Earth is in the perfect place in the cosmos for a number of reasons. No place else would be suitable for any type of life form, scientists have discovered, either in our own galaxy, or any other – including its position in the solar system, it being the perfect distance from the sun, the axis of the earth and the moon’s perfect size, position, and rotation which stabilizes the earth’s tilt, keeping the climate habitable, our gravity is just right, and the earth properly watered. The earth is also in a perfect location in the solar system and universe to observe the cosmos. Any variation would not only make life on earth non-existent but the rest of the universe hidden from our view.

I am reminded of God’s words to Job: “Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell me, if you have understanding. Who set its measurements, since you know? Or who sketched the lines on it (everything is in perfect lineage to sustain life, scientists have discovered)? On what were its bases sunk? Or who laid its cornerstone, when the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy? Or who enclosed the sea with doors, when, bursting forth, it went out from the womb; when I made a cloud its garment, and thick darkness its swaddling band, and I placed the boundaries on it, and I set a bolt and doors, and I said, ‘Thus far you shall come, but no farther; and here shall your proud waves stop’” (Job 38:4-11).

David said, “By awesome deeds you did answer us in righteousness, Oh God of our salvation, You who art the trust of all the ends of the earth and the furthest sea; who dost establish the mountains by His strength, being girded with might; who dost still the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves, and the tumult of the peoples. And they who dwell in the ends of the earth stand in awe of Your signs; You make the dawn and the sunset shout for joy. You dost visit the earth, and cause it to overflow; You do greatly enrich it; the stream of God is full of water; You dost prepare their grain, for thus You dost prepare the earth. You dost water its furrows abundantly; You dost settle its ridges; You dost soften it with showers; You dost bless its growth. You have crowned the year with bounty, and Your paths drip with fatness” (Psalms 65:5-11).

There is no doubt, God placed all things in just the proper place, comprised of just the right elements, made up in just the right formula, and methodology to sustain life and our planet and our universe as only God could do. Modern science is now confirming all of this. One mystery remains to them, however, and that is, what holds matter together? The Bible reveals this too: “And He’s before all things, and in Him, all things hold together” (Colossians 1:17). We serve a mighty God, and He has you and me right where we need to be to serve Him with our entire being. Praise be to Him who set all things in place, just right! Even the makeup of other stars and other planets are created just the way they are in order to provide the balancing act of the earth and its makeup to miraculously sustain life. “And He puts all things in subjection under His feet” (Ephesians 1:32). Creation, and the creator God, are amazing!
